Qld: Church leaders approve abuse inquiry

BRISBANE, Feb 22 AAP - The Anglican Church has formally approved an inquiry into thepast handling of child abuse in the Brisbane diocese.
The Brisbane diocesan council last night unanimously passed three resolutions settingup the inquiry.
Two resolutions endorsed Archbishop Phillip Aspinall's decision to establish the inquiryand appoint an independent inquiry head.
The third called for the inquiry's terms of reference to be drawn up by senior lawyersinstructed by counsel not previously connected with the diocese in any matters likelyto come before the probe.
